Kate’s practice focuses on advising clients in a wide array of matters related to cybersecurity and data privacy. She counsels clients on compliance with state, federal and international privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (EU) (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the New York Department of Financial Services Cybersecurity Regulation. Kate assists her clients with establishing data privacy programs, information security programs, information handling, incident response plans and subsidiary information technology and security standards and policies.

Erik Gardner is Global Privacy & Compliance Counsel for Daniel J. Edelman, Inc. as well as strategic business counsel for the Data and Intelligence business group. His practice focuses on assisting Edelman’s businesses and offices across LATAM, EMEA, and APAC with strategic counsel on the legal issues that arise from advances in technology and data in an increasingly connected and digital world, with a specific focus on data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, IP licensing, media & advertising, marketing/influencer engagement, crisis management, and product and software development. He holds the CIPP/US certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Lillie advises clients on a wide array of matters related to data privacy, cybersecurity, technology licensing and procurement, digital advertising and technology, as well as due diligence in these areas in M&A transactions. She offers deep experience in global privacy and protection and working with clients who are implementing privacy programs under CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, GDPR, and other international regulations. Lillie also assists clients with cyber incident prevention and response and crisis management, as clients respond to and remediate cyber security events.

Jeff Lewis is a senior legal leader with experience in compliance and privacy matters, specifically related to:  AI development & deployment, technology alliances, licensing, data and analytics, business development, commercial, regulatory, litigation, and data governance matters. Mr. Lewis currently serves as an Associate General Counsel, Enterprise Connectivity, Digital Initiatives and Care Communication at Baxter Healthcare supporting enterprise product development and the technology leadership teams. He previously served as Senior Counsel at Zoom Video Communications managing Zoom’s privacy program and product support related to AI and machine learning.

Sarah Sargent is a member of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity practice. She holds the CIPP/US, CIPP/E and CIPM certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, allowing her to draw from both domestic and international best practices when it comes to questions of data privacy. She counsels clients on privacy compliance with a variety of state, federal and international laws, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the New York Department of Financial Services Cybersecurity Regulation. Sarah’s understanding of these regulations allows her to advise companies seeking to implement entity-wide privacy programs, walking them through each step necessary to prepare for the next emergent privacy law.

Libby Scott is an attorney in the Federal Trade Commission’s Midwest Region in Chicago, and currently is on detail to the Commission’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection. Over the course of her career, she has brought cases involving phantom debt collection, remote tech support scams, and the deceptive sale of healthcare products. Most recently, in addition to working on a settlement involving deceptive statements by Amazon regarding gig workers’ tips, she is litigating against a data broker that sells data from hundreds of millions of mobile devices that can be used to trace the movements of individuals to and from sensitive locations. In addition to her casework, Libby is committed to promoting equity in the FTC’s work and serves on the Commission’s agency-wide equity team. She also founded the Commission’s Women’s Employee Resource Group. Prior to joining the FTC, Libby served as a law clerk for the Honorable Frank H. Easterbrook on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and worked as a litigation associate at Sidley Austin LLP and Winston & Strawn LLP in Chicago. Libby graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School.
