Threatening and harassing behavior by patients in the health care workplace

June 9, 2016 to June 30, 2016|7:30 AM - 9:00 AM

In recent years, there has been a dramatic national increase in violence and abuse directed at health care providers from patients and visitors of hospitals and other community health centers. Threatening and harassing behavior by patients can disrupt and jeopardize the safety and health of patients, staff and other visitors and must be addressed in the context of applicable laws.

At this complimentary breakfast roundtable, we will discuss the intersection of threatening patients and EMTALA, the Americans with Disabilities Act, workplace violence protections and patient abandonment. The roundtable format allows individuals the opportunity to share experiences and best practices related to this issue.

The program will be led by Molly Berkery, a member of Godfrey & Kahn’s Health Care Practice Group.

CLE credit, PDC credit through SHRM and recertification credit through the HRCI are currently pending for this event.
