Honor Flight of ChampionsAt 4:30 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 1, Mary LaLuzerne, Merry Lee Lison, Jonathan Smies, Dori Betts and Lauri Marenger from Godfrey & Kahn’s Green Bay office were at the Austin Straubel Airport volunteering for the Old Glory Honor Flight of Champions. The event, which just completed its 48th mission, took 70 area veterans from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War to visit their war memorials in Washington D.C.

Godfrey & Kahn volunteers spent the morning assisting with breakfast, photography and welcoming guests. The veterans returned to Green Bay in the evening after spending the day in D.C. and were welcomed by community members with a homecoming celebration.

The Old Glory Honor Flight’s mission is to offer local veterans a memorable and rewarding tour of honor to the nation's capital. The trip happens all in one day and is free of charge to the veterans. It is an important way for the community to thank them for their service.
