Madison rests on an isthmus between scenic Lakes Mendota and Monona but could hardly be described as a drowsy town. Madison is Wisconsin's state capital and home to the University of Wisconsin Badgers. Every Saturday from April through November, Capitol Square is home to the largest producer-only farmer's market in the country. Additionally, the central downtown offers more than 1,500 community-centric businesses - from shops, restaurants and museums to financial, law and communications firms. Out of 200 metro areas, Madison placed at 29 in the Forbes list of Best Places for Business and Careers.
