Summer Associate Program
Our Summer Associate Program is our most important tool for hiring new associates. The goal of the program is to give summer associates the opportunity to experience life working an as associate at Godfrey & Kahn. Consistent with this goal, summer associates are given meaningful assignments from many different practice areas within the firm.
As a summer associate, you can expect to work with a diverse group of attorneys from multiple practice areas. The work you will perform is part of a larger project we have undertaken for our clients or our firm - it is never unnecessary or busywork. It is our expectation that your work will be incorporated into our final product and that your time will be billed to the client.
Mentorship at Godfrey & Kahn begins in our Summer Associate Program, and will continue as you advance as an associate. You will learn from attorneys at all levels of the law firm. In addition to informal day-to-day feedback from the attorneys with whom you work, you will receive regular written evaluations on most assignments you complete.
In addition to the social aspects of the program, we include educational and cultural experiences designed to enhance your professional development. Summer associates often represent pro bono clients in matters such as landlord/tenant disputes, immigration matters and prisoner civil rights cases.
Our Summer Associate Program has a demonstrated record of success. You will develop tangible skills and gain valuable experience. And you will leave with a realistic view of whether a career as an attorney at Godfrey & Kahn is right for you. Most of our summer associates go on to become successful attorneys - most of them at Godfrey & Kahn.
Our 2012 summer associate salary is expected to be $2,225 per week.
Recruiting for our Summer Associate Program begins August 1 each year. If you are a first-year law student, please contact us after December 1.
