Godfrey & Kahn is proud of our long-standing relationship with the University of Michigan. Since founding partners Dudley Godfrey, a University of Michigan Law School graduate, and Gerald Kahn established the law firm in 1957, the firm has interviewed students in Ann Arbor. Today, we have a strong network of Michigan alumni at our firm, including nine attorneys who are graduates of the University of Michigan Law School.

Mark Witt - "Starting long before I was a first-year summer associate at Godfrey & Kahn, our firm has recruited extensively at the University of Michigan Law School. Our Michigan recruiting efforts have continued very successfully since then and we look forward to interviewing on-campus twice every year.
I very much enjoyed my time as a first-year summer associate at G&K. The summer program allowed me to explore my practical interests as an attorney while getting to know and enjoy the city, the G&K attorneys and staff, and my peers. At the end of the first-year program, I returned to Michigan with a more practical perspective on legal issues, a better understanding of my interests and a great appreciation for the city of Milwaukee and G&K (and, by the way, about 10 pounds heavier from all of the lunches and happy hours!).
Since my summer associate years, Godfrey & Kahn has proven to be a firm with the highest standards of legal expertise, client service, professional development, entrepreneurship and integrity. I am very proud of our firm and its positive, inclusive and fun culture. And I am very excited and optimistic about my future at G&K and the future of our firm."
Jeff Billings - "Accepting the summer associate offer from Godfrey & Kahn was one of the easiest decisions that I have had to make over the course of the last few years. I was looking for a firm where I could work on interesting, complex, and fulfilling legal issues and a firm that had a commitment to training and developing their associates, not for two or three years, but for a lifetime. I wanted to find an organization that rewarded hard work, dedication and ability, yet still understood the importance of family and a sense of community. I sought a firm where the attorneys understood that law was primarily about service to the client and working together as a team and a place where I would work with exceptional attorneys. Many firms have some of these qualities, but only a few firms are able to combine them all. In my interviews, Godfrey & Kahn touted these things, and since then, Godfrey & Kahn has delivered."

Chinemerem "Ndu" N. Ozor, a 2007 and 2008 Summer Associate, is a third year at the University of Michigan where he earned a B.B.A. with distinction in finance. Since June of 2005, Chinemerem has worked as a Project Administrator at Parson Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas, Inc. in Chicago. PBQD is a global planning, engineering and construction management organization.
My time at Godfrey & Kahn was filled with enjoyable and challenging experiences. The Summer Program gave me the opportunity to see what a lawyer does on a day-to-day basis-which is important for many law students who likely have no legal experience. I was privileged to have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of interesting projects with partners and associates, from the sale of a company to analyzing potential grounds to file an appeal. Not only were the attorneys helpful, candid and genuine, but they were also easily accessible and fun. I would say that my overall summer experience at this firm exceeded my expectations, and I would strongly recommend Godfrey & Kahn to any law student who is considering this firm.
Stephen Kilar, a 2006 and 2007 Summer Associate, recently completed his third year at the University of Michigan.
"I chose Godfrey & Kahn in Milwaukee for my summer because I knew that the skillfully structured summer associate program would expose me to a number of different practice areas. Indeed, in just the first half of my 12-week summer I completed two litigation-related research projects, drafted real estate documents, got a taste of the financial restructuring and corporate teams, and received a sneak-peak at securities law. The broad variety of work that I completed this summer allowed me to narrow down my areas of interest, thereby bringing into focus both my remaining semesters of law school and my career goals. By gathering an early understanding of law firms' place in the legal landscape, I have developed a keen grasp of how I can shape my law school career to prepare myself for real world legal issues. The summer at G&K has me looking to the future and I am excited by the prospects ahead!
"The attorneys at G&K also made my summer associate experience outstanding. Both partners and associates took the time and made an effort to explain assignments and attend summer events. By summer's end I had interacted with most of G&K's attorneys on projects, over lunch, or at social gatherings. Everyone is approachable and G&K's open door policy ensures that everyone is accessible. As I collected questions about projects--or had questions about the firm in general--I was never hesitant to ask for a candid response. All G&K attorneys actively assisted me along the path to success. It was a pleasure to have G&K attorneys as my colleagues for the summer. At G&K I worked with dedicated attorneys who truly enjoyed coming to the office, projected optimism, and endeavored to learn something new about their practice every day."
