Our continued success depends strongly on attracting the best new lawyers. We seek individuals whose academic achievements and personal skills mark them as future leaders in the firm and in the community.
Each year, Godfrey & Kahn welcomes a diverse group of talented law students from across the country to participate in our successful summer associate program. The program is designed to provide professional growth opportunities to our summer associates while providing them the ability to make a well-reasoned decision about permanent association after law school. We hire summer associates with the expectation that each will be offered an associate position.
To provide diversity of experience and maximum exposure to the firm's practice and attorneys, attorneys in all areas of practice may assign work to summer associates. In addition to working on research and writing assignments, summer associates are encouraged to attend practice group and associate meetings, as well as various marketing functions. Each practice group at Godfrey & Kahn hosts a summer associate lunch in order to provide our summer associates with a better understanding of that area of law practice. The firm also seeks to provide summer associates with opportunities to observe various events such as client conferences, closings, will executions, administrative proceedings, depositions, and trials.

Our summer program is more than seminars, training and hard work. You will build camaraderie with the other summer associates and attorneys in the firm by getting to know them on a more personal basis. The firm offers a series of formal and informal events which include trolley tours, golf outings, community service opportunities and fishing excursions. For 2008, our summer associate salary is $2,400 per week in Milwaukee and Madison.
