Godfrey & Kahn Adds 11 Attorneys

October 20, 2005

The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. has added 11 attorneys. Eight attorneys will practice out of the firm’s Milwaukee office, two out of the Madison office (LaFollette Godfrey & Kahn), and one out of the Appleton office.

Milwaukee Office Additions
Heather L. Cain
and Timothy D. Kincaid have joined the firm’s Corporate Practice Group. Cain received her law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University and her bachelor’s degree in Spanish, with honorary distinction, from the University of Wisconsin. Prior to joining the firm, Cain practiced intellectual property law and election law at Quarles & Brady LLP. Kincaid received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a summer associate with the firm in 2004.

Andrew O. Christianson and Edward L. Paz have joined the firm’s Securities Practice Group. Christianson received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he served as a managing editor for the Wisconsin International Law Journal, treasurer for the Wisconsin International Law Society and intern for Judge Charles N. Clevert Jr. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance, investment and banking from the University of Wisconsin. Paz received his law degree from Northwestern University Law School, and earned bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry and history from Marquette University. Prior to joining the firm, he was an attorney with Baker & McKenzie LLP in Chicago. Before he attended law school, Paz served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Cairo, Egypt.

Krista K. Buchholz and Joshua P. Dau have joined the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. Buchholz received her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School and her undergraduate degree in philosophy and communication studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Buchholz was a summer associate with the firm in 2004. Dau received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School. He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and also graduated with distinction in economics. Prior to joining the firm, Dau spent six years working in the insurance and financial services industries. During that time he was an actuary, and he is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Dau was a summer associate with the firm in 2004.

Margaret R. Hildenbrandt has joined the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. She received her law degree from Washington University School of Law, with honors, where she was a staff editor for the Washington University Global Studies Law Review. She received her bachelor’s degree in philosophy, cum laude, from Truman State University. Hildenbrandt was a summer associate with the firm in 2004.

Beth A. Jacobs has joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. She received her law degree from the University of Iowa Law School, with distinction, and her bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Before attending law school, Jacobs served as an officer in the U.S. Army, stationed in South Korea, Colorado, Bosnia and Egypt.

Madison Office Additions
LaFollette Godfrey & Kahn welcomes Anthony J. Gaughan and Barbara J. Zabawa.

Gaughan is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. He received his law degree from Harvard, a doctorate in history from the University of Wisconsin, a master’s degree in history from Louisiana State University, and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Minnesota.

Zabawa has joined the firm’s Insurance and Health Care Practice Groups. She received her law degree, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, a master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in English from Lawrence University. Before joining the firm, Zabawa clerked for the Honorable Barbara B. Crabb in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. Prior to that, Zabawa worked on private health insurance issues as a Skadden Fellow through the Skadden Fellowship Foundation.

Appleton Office Addition
Alan R. Stewart
has joined the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Stewart received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin, where he was a member of Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honor Society. Prior to joining the firm, Stewart practiced with a large intellectual property boutique firm. Before practicing as a patent attorney, Stewart was a consultant and project manager in the area of design, procurement and implementation of complex information systems. Stewart also managed consulting and data conversion service providers, and was involved with the development of e-business initiatives.
