Godfrey & Kahn Adds Eight New Attorneys

New talent expands firm's depth of practice areas
October 21, 2010

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (October 21, 2010)-- Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is proud to announce the addition of eight new attorney associates to its Milwaukee office location.

"We are excited to welcome this group of talented young lawyers to the growing Godfrey & Kahn team," said Rick Bliss, Managing Partner. "Their knowledge and impressive backgrounds will add tremendous value to our firm moving forward."

Tristan S. Breedlove has joined the firm's litigation practice group and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2009. Breedlove received her law degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University, where she served as executive editor of the American Criminal Law Review. During law school, Breedlove represented victims of domestic violence in Washington D.C. Superior Court as part of Georgetown's Domestic Violence Clinic and worked as a law clerk for the Washington D.C. Jail Advocacy Project. She earned her bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in Political Science and Sociology at the University of Minnesota. Prior to law school, Breedlove worked for the Children's Defense Fund in Washington D.C.

Marvin C. Bynum II is the newest member of the firm's real estate practice group and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2008 and 2009. Bynum earned his law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University where he was editor in chief of the Marquette Law Review. He received his bachelor's degree in English Literature from Arizona State University. Prior to law school, Bynum worked for six years as a journalist, both as an editor for a Madison, Wis.-based sports business magazine and as a freelance reporter for daily newspapers in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Matthew T. Kemp has joined the firm's environmental practice group and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2008. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law and his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology from Dartmouth College. Prior to joining Godfrey & Kahn, Kemp was a law clerk for the Honorable Jack Zouhary of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Matthew J. Kovacich is a new attorney in the firm's corporate practice group and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2009. Kovacich received his law degree, summa cum laude, from Hamline University, where he served as a primary editor for the Hamline Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degree in History and Government & Legal Studies from Bowdoin College. Prior to joining the firm, Kovacich worked as a homeland security and emergency management consultant in Virginia. He also gained experience working on Capitol Hill and in the legal departments at a hedge fund and investment management company.

Andrew C. Landsman is the newest member of the firm's intellectual property practice group and was a summer associate for Godfrey & Kahn in 2008 and 2009. Landsman earned his law degree from John Marshall Law School, where he served as electronic production editor of the John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law. He received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Prior to joining the firm, Landsman spent three years working as both a manufacturing and a design engineer.

Mathew R. Peterson has joined the firm's corporate practice group and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2009. Peterson earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he worked as a student attorney for the Legal Assistance to Institutionalized Persons Project (LAIP). He received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, in Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Joy E. Schnackenbeck has joined the firm's environmental practice group and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2009. Schnackenbeck earned her law degree from Georgetown University. She received her bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in Environmental Science from Bradley University, as well as a master's degree in Environmental and Occupational Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to joining the firm, Schnackenbeck worked at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) office of Pesticide Programs in Washington, D.C. and as an environmental scientist at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the EPA Office of Regional Counsel in Chicago.

Matthew M. Wuest is a new member of the firm's litigation practice group and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2009. Wuest earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he served as a student attorney for the Wisconsin Innocence Project. Wuest also worked as a student attorney in the Criminal Appeals Project and the Legal Assistance to Institutionalized Persons program. Additionally, he served as a judicial intern on the Wisconsin Supreme Court for Justice N. Patrick Crooks. Wuest completed his undergraduate studies in History & Political Science from the University of Wisconsin.
