Godfrey & Kahn Adds Eight New Attorneys

October 27, 2011

MILWAUKEE (Oct. 27, 2011) -- Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is proud to announce the addition of eight new attorney associates to the firm's Corporate, Labor & Employment, Litigation, Securities and Tax & Employee Benefits Practice Groups.

Dustin B. Brown has joined the firm's Litigation Practice Group as a lateral associate in the Madison office location. Prior to joining Godfrey & Kahn, Dustin clerked for the Honorable John M. Walker, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York and the Honorable Thelton E. Henderson of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco. Brown also practiced for two years as a member of the Litigation Practice Group at Bingham McCutchen LLP in San Francisco. Brown earned his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in English from Yale University and received his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York University.

Martina R. Gast has joined the firm's Labor & Employment Practice Group in the firm's Madison office location and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2009 and 2010. Gast earned her bachelor's degree, with distinction, in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin and received her J. D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. During law school, she served as the Vice-President of the Indigenous Law Students Association (ILSA) and coordinated the annual Coming Together of Peoples Conference. Additionally, she served as a judicial intern on the Wisconsin Supreme Court for Justice Ann Walsh Bradley.

Laura A. Hawkins has joined the firm's Securities Practice Group in the Milwaukee office location and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2010. Hawkins earned her Bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from Marquette University in Mathematics and Criminology and Law Studies, where she received the 2008 Criminology and Law Studies Outstanding Graduate Award. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Marquette University Law School, where she served as Note & Comment Editor for the Marquette Law Review. While in law school, Hawkins clerked at the United States Federal District Court for Chief Judge Charles N. Clevert and worked for Johnson Controls, Inc. as a corporate law clerk, where she helped draft and prepare the annual proxy statement. She received several CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, most notably in Securities Law and in Advanced Securities Law.

Travis S. Laird has joined the firm's Corporate Practice Group in the Milwaukee office location and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2010. Laird earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science from Iowa State University and received his J.D., cum laude, from Marquette University Law School, where he served as an Associate Editor for the Marquette Law Review. Prior to law school, Laird lived and worked in Japan as an English teacher.

M. Scott LeBlanc has joined the firm's Labor & Employment Practice Group in the Milwaukee office location. LeBlanc earned his bachelor's degree in Journalism and Political Science from Northwestern University and received his J.D., cum laude, from Duke University School of Law. During law school, LeBlanc was an Executive Editor of the Duke Journal of Constitutional Law and Public Policy and a Staff Editor for the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Forum. He also worked as a litigation intern at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, a public interest law organization in New Orleans. Prior to attending law school, LeBlanc worked as a news producer and reporter for CBS and FOX affiliate television stations in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, Iowa.

Daniel C.W. Narvey has joined the firm's Litigation Practice Group in the Milwaukee office location and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2010. Narvey earned his bachelor's degree in Physics and Philosophy from Duke University and received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. During law school, Narvey worked on litigation and policy matters for the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Clinic, served as an intern with the Federal Public Defender of the Eastern District of North Carolina and worked as a law clerk at the Cook County Public Defender in Chicago. He also served as Senior Lead Editor for the Alaska Law Review. Prior to law school, Daniel worked for Epic Systems Corporation in Madison, where he consulted with large hospital systems transitioning to electronic medical records.

Aaron A. Seligman has joined the firm's Litigation Practice Group in the Madison office location and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2010. Seligman earned his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in American Culture Studies and Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis. He received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. During law school Seligman worked in the Consumer Law Litigation Clinic, coached and competed in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and studied for a semester at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. Prior to law school, Seligman was a Spanish teacher with Teach for America in Washington, D.C., where he earned a Master's degree in teaching from American University.

Timothy C. Smith has joined the firm's Tax & Employee Benefits Practice Group in the Milwaukee office location and was a summer associate with Godfrey & Kahn in 2010. Smith earned his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in Accounting from Marquette University and received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he served as an articles editor for the Wisconsin Law Review. While in law school, Smith worked as an intern for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue's Office of General Counsel. Additionally, he served as a judicial intern on the Wisconsin Supreme Court for Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson.
