Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce that attorney Thomas N. Shorter has been appointed Vice-Chair of the American Health Lawyers Association's (AHLA) Labor and Employment Practice Group. AHLA, the nation's largest educational association devoted to legal issues in the health industry, provides resources to address the issues facing its members who practice in law firms and as in-house counsel. AHLA's Labor and Employment Practice Group addresses concerns related to healthcare employment law, employment discrimination, immigration, union-management disputes and other areas.
Shorter, a shareholder in Godfrey & Kahn's Labor & Employment and Health Care Practice Groups in the firm's Madison office, represents health care and educational institutions by providing counsel in labor and employment and regulatory matters such as collective bargaining, FMLA compliance, HIPAA Privacy, and discrimination issues. His health care practice includes working with hospitals, physicians' groups, research institutions and other health care organizations.
Shorter is an active member in the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration and the Wisconsin Society for Healthcare Risk Management. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and his law degree from the Northeastern University School of Law.
