Madison, Wisconsin (July 24, 2009). The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce Thomas N. Shorter, shareholder and member of the firm's Health Care Practice Group, has been elected to the State Bar of Wisconsin Health Law Section Board of Directors. Shorter's three year term began on July 1, 2009. He also formerly served on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin State Bar Young Lawyers Division from 2001-2002.
Shorter is a shareholder in Godfrey & Kahn's Health Care Practice Team in the firm's Madison office. He represents hospitals and health care systems, providing counsel in health care regulatory matters such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), Stark, Anti-Kickback issues, as well as labor and employment matters. His health care practice includes working with hospitals, physicians' groups, research institutions and other health care organizations.
