Rick Marcus is a member of the Financial Institutions Practice Group in the Milwaukee office.
Rick's primary practice involves representing financial institutions and other businesses, including software and other technology related companies, in providing and acquiring information technology solutions, from software licensing transactions, hosting services and ASP arrangements, to full technology outsourcing deals. His experience representing software companies gives him unique insight into the issues to be addressed in advising clients in this area. He also assists financial institutions with their online banking, remote deposit capture, image exchange and other technology-based products and services, as well as other aspects of their businesses such as merchant services. Rick also handles privacy and information security matters for financial institutions and other businesses.
Rick also has broad experience in corporate, tax, intellectual property, antitrust and franchising, and represents large and small businesses in industries as varied as manufacturing, retail, and the hospitality and travel industries. In his general business practice, Rick negotiates, drafts and reviews all types of contracts and counsels his clients with respect to various business planning issues. He represents buyers and sellers in business acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic alliance agreements. He also frequently provides advice and counsel to the owners of businesses he has represented and their families.
Rick graduated cum laude from Harvard University Law School after completing his preparatory education in English at the University of Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin, and the ITechLaw Association.
