Tim Smith is an associate in the Tax & Employee Benefits Practice Group in Godfrey & Kahn’s Milwaukee office. His practice focuses primarily on the federal and state income tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, spin-offs, like-kind exchanges, and other business transactions. Tim advises clients on the tax consequences of forming, owning, restructuring, reorganizing, and selling limited liability companies, C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and joint ventures. His other areas of experience include equity compensation, mutual fund taxation, investment and venture capital funds, tax-exempt organizations, renewable energy incentives and credits, and sales and use tax matters. Tim also represents businesses in federal and state income tax, sales and use tax, and employment tax controversy matters.
