Tim Smith is an associate in the Tax & Employee Benefits Practice Group in Godfrey & Kahn’s Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and other business transactions, as well as tax structuring, planning, and controversy matters. Tim also advises mutual fund clients on a variety of regulated investment company tax issues including tax-free reorganizations, maintenance of a fund's status as a regulated investment company, and regulatory disclosure issues. In addition, Tim also advises non-profit clients on matters regarding their tax-exempt status and assists non-profit clients and donors with structuring charitable gifts.
While in law school, Tim interned with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue's Office of General Counsel and the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
