NEW: DOL issues FFCRA implementation rule, launches feedback campaign

April 2, 2020

Previously, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced April 1, 2020, as the effective date of the new Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and it wasted no time announcing its implementation plans. On April 1, 2020, the DOL announced it was issuing a temporary rule interpreting and implementing the FFCRA. On April 2, 2020, the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) posted the temporary rule and announced the final rule is scheduled to be published on April 6, 2020.

For those interested in real-time opportunities to learn more about the implementation rules, WHD will post a recorded webinar on Friday, April 3, 2020. This recording will provide interested parties an in-depth description and help them learn more about the FFCRA.

The DOL has also launched a campaign and invited employers and employees to provide feedback through an online portal. The deadline for participating is April 10, 2020. You can expect that there will be more guidance coming from the DOL based on feedback from both of these forums.
