Blockchain Risk Management

January 23, 2018 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
David Straz Hall, Room 105

DESCRIPTION

Blockchain technology offers the ability to support trustless transactions, disrupting many industries as it eliminates waste and saves money. But what risks are involved with this potentially revolutionary technology? Whether using cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin for payments or investing in blockchain solutions for business, there are several things to consider in order to maximize the potential of blockchain while mitigating any risks.

Join us for a panel discussion on various risks associated with cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies, presented by the Marquette Blockchain Lab. Panelists will discuss both the potential and risks associated with this promising but nascent technology.

The panel will be moderated by Dr. Monica Adya, Chair, Department of Management for Marquette University's College of Business Administration. Panelists include:

  • Steven Anderson, Blockchain Developer, SteamChain

  • Marcie Bomberg, CEO, Confidentia Group and DocLaunch

  • Dr. Tom Kaczmarek, Director of the Center for Cyber Security and Cyber Defense at Marquette University

  • Girish Ramachandra, Senior Manager for Market and Solutions, Wipfli
