Rising Stars in Law: Liz Johnson

Class of 2022

Liz is dedicated, diligent and dogged in her pursuit of excellence for her clients and her community. As an attorney at Godfrey & Kahn, S.C., where Liz has been a key member of the real estate team since 2016, she has played an instrumental role on some of greater Milwaukee’s most notable, recent catalytic projects. Among her credits are serving on the legal team that coordinated the historic redevelopment of the Bradley Symphony Center, a complex multiyear undertaking that transformed the downtown Milwaukee corner of 2nd Street and Wisconsin Avenue into the dynamic new home of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Within her firm, Liz also devotes her time to helping pave inroads for future Godfrey & Kahn attorneys as a member of the summer associate committee, which is charged with leading the firm’s nine-week summer clerkship program. Liz’s commitment to helping others does not stop there. Outside the firm, she serves in board leadership roles for nonprofit education organization, City Year Milwaukee, and women’s professional association, Professional Dimensions, in addition to volunteering to help mentor young women, including those at her alma mater, Divine Savior Holy Angels High School.

According to Liz’s supervising attorneys, in all of her activities, she “is on top of it” and “does not miss a thing.” Thus, it should come as no surprise that Liz already has been recognized by her peers for her high-quality work and impeccable client service, earning placement on the annual Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” list since 2021.

Despite juggling her busy schedule and many responsibilities, “Liz is always a joy to work with,” says Godfrey & Kahn real estate shareholder Marvin Bynum. “Incredible colleagues and human beings like Liz give me so much hope for the future of our team, our firm and our community.”
