Employee Privacy: Drawing the Line Around Employee Privacy Interests

February 22, 2006 7:15 - 9:00 a..m.
Milwaukee Marriott West
The employment relationship involves a continuing tension between an employer’s interest in the efficient operation of its business—which oftentimes requires that the employer obtain information about its employees—and employee privacy interests. While technological advances make it easier for employers to collect data and monitor employees, both on and off duty, employment laws may limit how far an employer may go. This Breakfast Roundtable session is designed to help employers understand where the legal lines of privacy are drawn in the workplace so they can avoid privacy violations while at the same time utilizing information about employees that may improve the company’s business.
