This annual seminar presented by the Godfrey & Kahn Labor & Employment team will focus on practical approaches to preventing and managing employment law problems. It is designed to provide employers with information concerning recent changes in labor and employment law and suggested strategies to deal with these changes.

  • Keynote Address: Electronic Record Management in a Digital Discovery Age. Join Mark Lanterman, Director of Computer Forensic Services of Minneapolis-based Espiria and a leading forensic and security expert, to discuss best practices in managing electronic data, as well as how to use it to solve legal and personnel matters.

  • When is Enough Enough? Managing Employee Disability and Leave Issues - Learn how FMLA, worker compensation and state and federal disability discrimination laws interact and how to proactively manage attendance and accommodation issues. Or
  • Now Hear This: A Practical Approach for Dealing with Investigations & Hearings - This session will give employers tips for drafting position statements, responding to information requests, preparing for hearings and dealing with settlements.

  • Whistle While You Work: Retaliation Protection for Employees - This session will discuss Sarbanes-Oxley, OSHA, wage and hour and other related whistle-blower retaliation protections. We will provide practical tips for dealing with frustrated workers, including whether to discipline, and if so, how and when to do so. Or
  • Managing the New American Workforce - Managing a diverse workforce presents unique challenges for employers. We will discuss cultural, language, religious and other issues employers must consider when creating policies and managing employees.
