Attorney Polar Plunges for a Good Cause

May 14, 2013

For the seventh year, Jennifer Wolff, a shareholder in the firm's Corporate Practice Group, participated in the Polar Plunge at Muskego County Park benefiting Special Olympics Wisconsin. Jennifer and her team jumped into the frozen waters in February and raised over $15,000 to help improve the lives of the nearly 10,000 Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes. Jennifer's team was led by Doug Pommerening, one of the Special Olympics athletes. Each year, Doug chooses a costume for the team. This year's theme was "Jumping Elvis!" Although it was raining the day of the Plunge, everyone had a great time for a great cause. The mission of Special Olympics Wisconsin is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. According to Special Olympics Wisconsin, this year 9,350 individuals plunged into freezing water around Wisconsin and raised $1.8 million. The polar plunge is great for everyone, as there are two ways to participate: sign up to take the plunge, or sign up as "too chicken to plunge." Both options allow participants to raise donations and join a team. For more information on the event, click here.
