Milwaukee, Wisconsin (October 27, 2008). The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce that Timothy F. Nixon, a shareholder of the firm, has been elected to the American College of Bankruptcy. Nixon is one of only five Wisconsin attorneys to be selected in the College's history. Brady Williamson, shareholder in the firm's Madison office, is also a member of the American College of Bankruptcy. Godfrey & Kahn is the only law firm in Wisconsin to have two attorneys elected into the college.
The college, which is an invitation-only organization, is dedicated to the advancement of the highest standards for the Bankruptcy and Restructuring profession and to the pursuit of educational and pro bono bankruptcy endeavors. Nixon was selected for membership by the Board of Regents of the College after an arduous, confidential process. His selection is recognition by his peer Fellows as having demonstrated the highest professional qualifications and character, and the commitment to scholarship and education relevant to the profession and those impacted by it. Nixon will be inducted into the Twentieth Class of Fellows on Friday, March 27, 2009 in Washington D.C., at the United States Supreme Court. Nixon is the team leader for the firm's Business Finance and Restructuring Practice Group, and is also a member of the Corporate and Litigation Practice Groups. He represents clients in state and federal courts in all aspects of bankruptcy including debtors, secured creditors, creditor committees, asset purchasers, receivers and trustees. Nixon is a frequent lecturer and expert commentator on bankruptcy issues, and has addressed the American Bankruptcy Institute, State Bar of Wisconsin, the Turnaround Management Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
Nixon is a member of the Milwaukee County, Dane County and Brown County Bar Associations, the State Bar Associations of Wisconsin and New York, the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Commercial Law of League of America. He has served as the President and
Vice President of the Western District Bankruptcy Bar and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bankruptcy Insolvency and Creditors Rights Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
