Indian Nations Law Update - August 2014

August 18, 2014

Sault Ste. Marie Chippewa Member Kathryn Allen to join Godfrey & Kahn as summer associate in 2015

Godfrey & Kahn is pleased to announce that Kathryn Allen, a second-year student at the University of Wisconsin Madison law school and member of the Sault Ste. Marie Chippewa Tribe, has accepted an offer of employment as a summer associate in 2015. Kathryn graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy. She completed a summer clerkship with the firm in 2014 where she worked on a broad variety of issues, including Indian law matters.

Kathryn is a recipient of the Godfrey & Kahn Fellowship in Law at the University of Wisconsin law school. Godfrey & Kahn’s Fellowship in Law program, established as part of the firm’s ongoing diversity initiative, is designed to promote diversity within the student body of Wisconsin law schools. The program provides a full, three-year scholarship to one student at the University of Wisconsin law school and one student at Marquette University law school. In addition to tuition, recipients are also offered mentoring from Godfrey & Kahn attorneys, as well as a position as a summer associate at the firm following the first year of law school. The selection of fellowship recipients is mutually determined by Godfrey & Kahn and the participating universities. Kathryn is also the recipient of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Education Award and the Noah Leask Family Scholarship. We look forward to seeing Kathryn again next summer.
