I want to take this opportunity to send a very simple but heartfelt message to all of our colleagues, and especially to our African American colleagues and our other colleagues of color, who are suffering in the wake of George Floyd’s tragic and senseless death.

These are extraordinarily difficult times and we are all affected by these issues in different ways. Many of us cannot begin to understand the pain, the frustration, the fear, the anger and the despair that I know many of you are dealing with. What we all can do, and what I know we ALL want to do, is support you.

We care very deeply about you and your families and we want to make sure that you feel safe and supported by us.

As an organization, that means we will continue to support you as individuals and that we will continue to make our diversity and inclusion efforts a top priority. I am very proud to work at Godfrey & Kahn for many reasons, but mostly because I believe we are a collection of simply good people with good hearts who strive to always do the right thing.

The racial disparities in our communities and country are significant and we have a lot of work to do. Let’s continue to listen to each other, to learn from each other and to support each other to make our firm, our communities and our country a better place.
