Today, President Barack Obama signed the Defend Trade Secrets Act  (DTSA) into law. As we previously noted, the DTSA provides employers with an avenue to pursue claims in federal court against individuals who steal and use their trade secrets. Employers also have notice obligations that will impact their agreements with employees. The DTSA will only apply prospectively to acts occurring on or after May 11, 2016. Additional information about the DTSA is available from our colleagues here.
