EPA's Clean Power Plan: Knowledge is power

On Wednesday, Dec. 2, Godfrey & Kahn held an informational seminar addressing the opportunities and challenges presented by EPA’s Clean Power Plan. This EPA rule was finalized on Aug. 3 and is designed to reduce, by more than 30 percent, carbon emissions from utility-scale fossil fuel fired electrical generation units in the United States by 2030.

Clean Power Plan Program

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Susan Hedman, EPA Region 5 Administrator Dr. Hedman’s keynote will provide an overview of the Clean Power Plan including a general description of the guidance for state and federal implementation.

Speaker: Ms. Delanie Breuer, Assistant Deputy Attorney General, State of Wisconsin Ms. Breuer will provide an overview of the State of Wisconsin’s position on pending litigation challenging the Clean Power Plan.

Moderator: Arthur Harrington, Godfrey & Kahn, S.C.

Panelists: Mr. Kris McKinney, WEC Energy Group; Mr. Andrew Kellen, WPPI Energy and Mr. Trevor Stiles, American Transmission Company This utility panel will discuss opportunities and challenges for this regulated sector to implement this complex rule including strategies to mitigate reliability impacts from the rule.

Moderator: John Clancy, Godfrey & Kahn, S.C.

Panelists: Mr. Patrick Henderson, Quad/Graphics, Inc.; Mr. Erick Shambarger; City of Milwaukee and Mr. Charles McGinnis, Johnson Controls, Inc. This customer panel will discuss the challenges and opportunities created by the Clean Power Plan for significant users of electrical power and providers of energy technologies.
