Best practices: Converting to renewable energy

Most tribes purchase energy from state-regulated utilities that burn fossil fuels, contributing to global warming. By transitioning to renewable energy, tribes not only reinforce tribal environmental values but also enhance economic sovereignty and significantly reduce long term energy costs for tribal enterprises and member housing. There are many federal and state grant programs, as well as tax and other incentives, to help tribes accomplish this transition.

Godfrey & Kahn helps tribes prepare and execute renewable energy strategies, including grants, tax credits and other financing tools, to minimize the cost of transitioning to renewable energy. For more information, contact Brian Pierson at 414.287.9456 or bpierson@gklaw.com.
