West Wisconsin Avenue building sold to WAM DC for redevelopment

A corner building housing Kiku on West Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee sold to the WAM DC LLC economic development group, which plans to redevelop it.

“We think it’s really out of character with the rest of the buildings on the block,” said Steve Chernof, WAM DC president and an attorney with Godfrey & Kahn SC.

The two-story building on the corner of Second Street and Wisconsin Avenue sold for $1.92 million, according to state records.

It is the first building acquisition for WAM DC, which formed in late 2013 to promote revitalization along West Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. Two anonymous donors paid for the purchase, Chernof said.
