On Nov. 9, Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta told attendees at the American Bar Association’s Annual Labor and Employment Law Conference that the Department of Labor's (DOL) priority is to create jobs. Referencing President Donald Trump’s executive order directing federal agencies to reduce regulations, Secretary Acosta said the department can now focus on freeing up money and creating efficiencies to “unleash jobs.”
In order to reach this goal, he said the DOL will closely examine the rules that impact economics and impinge on liberty. Employers will be happy to hear that some of the rules the DOL will be examining include: the Persuader Rule, the Tip Credit Rule and the Overtime Rule.
The takeaway for employers? Stay tuned and be patient. Winter is coming.
