

Meet Liz
Elizabeth (Liz) Johnson is a shareholder in the Milwaukee office and a member of the Real Estate practice. She represents a broad range of clients in sophisticated real estate transactions across the United States, combining practical insight with strategic guidance to help clients achieve their business objectives.
Liz regularly advises lenders and borrowers in complex financing transactions, including commercial mortgage, construction, and portfolio loans, and represents clients in the acquisition and disposition of a wide variety of real estate assets. She also counsels clients on the real estate aspects of mergers and acquisitions and works closely with for-profit and nonprofit developers on affordable housing initiatives and other real estate development projects.
Liz has extensive experience negotiating commercial leases on behalf of both tenants and landlords for office, retail, restaurant, and industrial spaces. She also advises clients on complex, long-term lease and facility management agreements for large-scale properties such as stadium complexes.
Liz has significant experience representing religious organizations in the disposition of real property, helping clients navigate the unique intersection of real estate, land use, and canon law considerations.
At Godfrey & Kahn, Liz is a member of the firm’s Recruiting Committee, formerly served as chair of the Summer Associate Committee, and is an active participant in the Women’s Leadership Forum.
Prior to joining Godfrey & Kahn, Liz served as a summer law clerk for The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and interned for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Liz was also a Managing Editor for the Wisconsin Law Review.
