About Our Summer Associate Program

Get ready for an incredibly interactive and immersive nine weeks. As a Summer Associate, you will be paired with two attorneys: a mentor who will help you get to know the firm and a project attorney to help with the nuts and bolts of your work. You’ll do real client projects and have an opportunity to interact with clients directly. Expect real-time feedback, coaching on your assignments and formal reviews during your time with us. You will have one-on-one lunches and coffees with attorneys-- including shareholders -- and we all look forward to spending time with you outside the office at team and firm-wide events.

We give you the chance to work in multiple practice groups, so you can get to know the attorneys and staff on each team and learn what they do. Beyond that hands-on experience, you’ll get to learn about every practice group in our popular “101” lunches, presented by team members from all our offices.

All of these interactions are your opportunity to start forming connections and experience our highly collaborative approach. It is a Summer Associate Program that gives you a real attorney experience. We think it’s the best nine weeks of the year!

Mentorship Opportunities

Mentoring is also part of our culture at Godfrey & Kahn. We make sure you have one-on-one time with your highly-engaged mentor and project attorneys. But it doesn’t end there. All of our attorneys and staff are fully bought-in for this program. They want to meet with you, often over lunch and during team evening events (like axe-throwing!). In our open-door environment, summer associates are encouraged to stop by shareholders’ offices to say hello.

When to Apply for Our Summer Associate Program

Rising 2L students should check with their career services offices for application deadlines and to bid for an on-campus interview spot.

On-campus interviews are held in July and August.
