

Meet Kimberly
Kimberly P. Thekan is the Chief Operations Officer of Godfrey & Kahn. Since joining the firm in 2017, she has strengthened infrastructure, modernized operations and advanced initiatives to enhance client service, elevate our culture and position the firm for continued success. She serves on the firm’s Board of Directors and Compensation Committee, contributing to governance, planning and the stewardship of our subjective compensation approach that rewards performance, contribution and cultural impact. She also chairs the firm’s Culture & Belonging Committee, reinforcing an inclusive, high-performing workplace that thrives on collaboration and supports the communities the firm serves.
As COO, Kimberly provides executive leadership for Talent, Learning & Development and Marketing & Business Development, and directs coordination across the firm’s administrative and business operations. She partners with practice group leaders and attorneys to develop leaders, guide talent and shareholder planning, and attract and align people and performance to support firm objectives and excellent client service.
She serves on the firm’s AI Committee and provides oversight for enterprise AI initiatives, advancing responsible implementation, workplace innovation and enhanced productivity in service of delivering greater value to clients. She also oversees real estate and workplace strategy to ensure the firm’s offices support collaboration, efficiency and client service.
Prior to joining the firm, she held senior leadership roles at Baird Private Wealth Management and Stark Investments and began her career in public accounting with Arthur Andersen LLP and Grant Thornton LLP. She earned her B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and completed the Leadership in Law Firms program at Harvard Law School. Kimberly lives in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, with her husband, Grant, and is the proud parent of four children — one at home and three young adults, whom they enjoy supporting as they launch and build careers of their own.
