Milwaukee (April 29, 2021) – Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce that Jay Creagh and Evann Derus, attorneys in the firm’s Corporate Law Practice Group, have both been named Up & Coming Lawyers by Wisconsin Law Journal.
Creagh’s practice involves advising clients on complex mergers and acquisitions across multiple industries, including manufacturing, distribution, technology, energy, healthcare and financial services. He also advises early-stage companies and investors in connection with both equity and debt financing.
Creagh received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Prior to law school, he was a director at Camp Manito-wish YMCA, where he focused on risk management, human resources and program development. He graduated from University of Minnesota’s Law School in 2013, magna cum laude. He also regularly volunteers at the Milwaukee Justice Law Center’s Mobile Legal Clinic, assisting clients with issues ranging from family law to landlord-tenant matters.
Derus’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, commercial contracting and general corporate matters. Derus regularly advises clients on stock purchases, asset purchases and mergers, representing businesses in a variety of industries. In addition to her mergers and acquisition practice, Derus provides guidance regarding other corporate law matters, including complex commercial contracts, succession planning, corporate governance, and employment and consulting arrangements.
Derus received her Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College. She earned her law degree summa cum laude from Marquette University. Outside of the firm, Evann and her husband focus their volunteer efforts on a local summer camp for kids, helping with the camp’s scholarship program for low-income families.
