USCIS application and petition fee increases to take effect Dec. 23

As a reminder, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) application and petition fee increases announced last month will take effect on Dec. 23. You can view the USCIS announcement here.

There were numerous increases announced, but the most relevant from an employment-based perspective are:

  • Form I-129, used for H-1B, L-1 and TN petitions, will increase from $325 to $460;
  • Form I-131, used to apply for advance parole, will increase from $360 to $575;
  • Form I-140, the immigrant petition form, will increase from $580 to $700;
  • Form I-485, used to apply for adjustment of status, will increase from $985 to $1,140;
  • Form I-539, used by family members of H-1Bs, L-1s and TNs, will increase from $290 to $370;
  • Form I-765, used to apply for work authorization (Employment Authorization Document or EADs), will increase from $380 to $410; and
  • Form N-400, used to apply for naturalization, will increase from $595 to $640.
