Meet Carla
Carla Andres is a commercial lawyer representing clients in state and federal courts. She is a member of the firm’s Business Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring and Corporate Law Practice Groups. Carla represents a variety of publicly held companies, as well as institutional lenders and investors in a wide range of general corporate and business law matters including mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, secured lending and commercial transactions, bankruptcy and loan workouts, and renewable energy facility transactions.
Carla is the former CEO of the U.S. subsidiary of an international company focusing on renewable fuels. She is well versed in ethanol and biodiesel ventures. She has handled mergers, acquisitions, debt and equity finance, receiverships, restructuring and insolvency issues relating to the renewable fuels industry, as well as to a broad range of business entities, both as counsel for the debtor and as counsel for the creditor.
Prior to joining the firm, Carla practiced law in the private sector with an emphasis on state and federal consumer law litigation and bankruptcy, addressing issues arising under the Wisconsin Consumer Act, the Federal Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Consumer Leasing Act, and Electronic Funds Transfer Act. Carla has litigated several consumer class actions and has spoken on the state and national level based on her familiarity with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and consumer litigation issues.
Carla received her undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University prior to attending the Villanova University School of Law where she received her J.D. in 1989 and was a member of the Moot Court Board. She is a former Special Assistant United States Attorney and is admitted to practice in the state courts of Wisconsin, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, the Northern District of Illinois, and the Eastern District of Michigan, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Court of Military Appeals. Carla is a member of the Ohio Bar, American Bankruptcy Institute, the American Bar Association, and a former Captain in the U.S. Air Force, Department of the Judge Advocate General.
