Program Highlights

The Privacy Power Hour

50 minutes – Professor David Sella-Villa, Sarah Sargent and Zach Willenbrink

This presentation will cover the most interesting privacy nuances, updates and questions we have faced in the last year—in bite-sized form. From tracking employees’ geolocation to the weaponization of the DOJ’s Bulk Sensitive Data Transfer Rule in pixel-tracking litigation, we will explore some of the most fun and unique privacy issues that organizations are facing.

Professor David Sella-Villa will open with the latest privacy and security legal developments, including issues emerging from the use of AI. Sarah Sargent and Zach Willenbrink will then turn to complex privacy matters companies are tackling this year.

Emerging Privacy Leaders Panel

50 minutes – Jody Eckman, Andy Holzmann and Luke Schaetzel | Zach Willenbrink, moderator

For our fan-favorite panel, we will talk with some of the emerging privacy talent in our state. In-house privacy counsel from across the manufacturing, insurance and software industries will share how they're tackling the latest privacy issues within their organizations.

The Litigation Aftershock: What’s New in the (Inevitable?) World of Post-Breach Litigation

25 minutes – Sarah Sargent and Zach Willenbrink

This presentation will cover the latest data-breach litigation trends and cases along with best practices for avoiding litigation—if you can.

From the Trenches: Navigating a Data Breach and Its Aftermath

25 minutes – Sara Flaherty and Sarah Sargent

Ransomware. Notification obligations. A resulting class action lawsuit. Sara Flaherty has navigated all three from inside an organization, leading her team through one of the most challenging situations in-house counsel can face: a security breach. In this Q&A-style discussion, Sarah Sargent will talk with Sara about lessons learned, practical considerations and real-world challenges that come with navigating the data breach trenches.
