2026 Labor and Employment Legal Update
Keep up with the evolving world of employment law and approach its complexities with clarity and assurance. We’ll discuss the most significant developments in labor and employment law from the past year and emerging issues, including key updates in federal and Wisconsin law, significant court decisions, and notable trends emerging in state laws across the country.
2026 Employer Tech Risk Briefing: Practical Updates and Pitfalls
In 20 minutes, we’ll cover the highest-risk technology issues employers face in 2026. We’ll start with the new laws covering use of AI in employment decisions: where they apply, when they take effect, and the practical steps you can take right now to stay ahead. After that, we’ll tell you how you should be updating your policies for mitigating critical risks (hint: asking ChatGPT won’t solve all problems), then close with training suggestions for employees and leadership (and you!) to avoid key data and operational risks, including knowing what to do when a breach strikes.
Prepared, Not Panicked: HR’s Legal and Practical Strategies Related to Workplace Violence
This session offers comprehensive look at the legal and practical challenges of maintaining safe, compliant, and prepared workplaces. We’ll address key issues such as concealed carry rules, responding to workplace violence, managing restraining orders, and de-escalation strategies, drawing on real-world lessons from major employers. We’ll also address how to strengthen internal policies, balance between preventive and reactive compliance and ensure alignment with OSHA and other workplace safety laws. Participants will leave with practical strategies aimed at protecting employees and their organizations.
What to Expect When They’re Expecting: Navigating Advanced Accommodation Issues in the Workplace
We will discuss the intersection of state and federal laws, including the PWFA, ADA, FMLA, state leave laws, and disability and workers’ compensation statutes, which affect employers as they accommodate employees. We will discuss whether and how such laws apply to employees experiencing fertility issues, health complications during pregnancy, and pregnancy loss. Through scenarios arising from actual cases, employers will learn practical takeaways about how to lawfully address accommodation requests and identify mistakes to avoid when navigating these laws when they intersect.
