October 25, 2018

Justin WebbKathryn AllenSarah SargentMILWAUKEE, WI (Oct. 25, 2018) ─ Godfrey & Kahn is pleased to announce that Kathryn Allen, Sarah Sargent and Justin Webb, attorneys in the firm’s Data Privacy & Cybersecurity and Technology & Digital Business Practice Groups, have become Certified Information Privacy Professionals/US through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). This certification further positions them as national leaders in the area of data privacy and cybersecurity law, demonstrating their knowledge of the myriad laws and regulations surrounding information privacy that impact our clients.

Allen’s focus has most recently included a thorough analysis of the statutory requirements governing data breach responses in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. She has been heavily involved in reviewing and updating her clients’ privacy policies and terms of use, ensuring their compliance with the quickly-developing legal and regulatory landscape of the industry. Her experience with banking and finance companies makes her an invaluable resource with respect to Fintech matters and the privacy obligations that must be satisfied in effectuating and maintaining a compliant software-based financial services network.

Sargent’s experience in deftly navigating regulations such as the European Union’s sweeping General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants her unique insight when advising clients on the most appropriate and effective choices when examining insurance policies and technology contracts. Beyond preventative efforts, Sarah’s focus also includes data breach remediation and litigation, working with opposing counsels, forensics experts and government regulators to resolve security incidents promptly and efficiently.

Webb serves as special counsel in the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity and Technology & Digital Business Practice Groups. His practice focuses on helping clients with the legal issues that arise from the implementation, use and abuse of technology, with a specific focus on cybersecurity and data privacy matters.
