Meet Allison
Allison chairs Godfrey & Kahn’s Antitrust practice and is a member of the firm’s Litigation, Healthcare and Government & White Collar Investigations teams. Her diverse practice spans complex commercial litigation, government and internal investigations and counseling on antitrust compliance and business disputes.
Antitrust
Allison has extensive experience in antitrust litigation, representing clients in both individual and class actions under federal and state law. Her antitrust work includes matters involving territorial allocation, no-poach agreements, exclusive dealing, tying, refusals to deal, covenants not to compete and alleged “sham” government petitioning. Allison represents clients in a range of industries, with particular experience representing healthcare entities. She also has co-chaired the ABA Litigation Section’s Antitrust Litigation Committee.
In addition to her litigation work, Allison counsels clients on mitigating antitrust risk. She regularly advises and trains clients on a variety of issues including price fixing and other criminal conduct; pricing and distribution issues, such as minimum advertised price policies, resale price maintenance and the Robinson-Patman Act; non-solicitation agreements, no-poach agreements and wage fixing; and joint ventures and other competitor collaborations. Allison frequently advises on antitrust issues in mergers and acquisitions including information sharing in due diligence, antitrust risk evaluation and pre-merger antitrust investigations. She also guides clients through second requests under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
Commercial Disputes
In addition to her antitrust practice, Allison represents clients in a range of commercial litigation matters around the country, including contract disputes, business torts and deceptive trade practices. She also counsels businesses on strategies to avoid costly litigation arising from contractual disputes with suppliers and vendors. In the event litigation is inevitable, Allison advises on case strategy, with an emphasis on reaching an efficient resolution.
Government Investigations
Allison also is experienced in assisting clients in navigating the complexities of a government investigations. She has successfully represented clients in civil and criminal inquiries in the areas of antitrust, healthcare fraud and abuse, consumer protection and cross-border investigations pursuant to a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), among others. When the government launches an investigation, Allison helps design strategies to minimize legal exposure and ensure effective responses.
Allison is a sought-after speaker on topics ranging from antitrust compliance to federal procedure to creating a more inclusive legal practice. Prior to joining Godfrey & Kahn, Allison practiced antitrust and commercial litigation at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago. She also was a law clerk for the Honorable William C. Canby, Jr. of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
